Glass Harp to play Powers

Glass Harp will perform in concert at Powers Auditorium on Jan. 13 at 8 p.m.

The Youngstown rock band flirted with national fame in the 1970s. The concert is the trio’s first in its hometown in seven years. and it’s being promoted by Sunrise Entertainment.

Tickets are $55, $45, $35 and $30 (plus fees) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at youngstownsymphony.com, by phone at 330-744-0264 and at the DeYor Center for the Performing Arts box office, 260 W. Federal St., downtown.

Glass Harp was formed in 1968 by guitarist Phil Keaggy, drummer John Sferra and bassist Steve Markulin.

Playing extended solos and group improvisations at concerts, the band is recognized as one of the pioneers of jam rock.

The act released three studio albums on Decca Records: “Glass Harp” (1970), “It Makes Me Glad” (1971) and “Synergy” (1972).

Currently, the trio’s members are the Grammy-nominated Keaggy, Sferra and bassist Dan Pecchio.
