Public forum series begins

The first in a series of monthly public forums titled We the People will take place Sunday at 11 a.m. at Dorian Books, 802 Elm St., North Side.

The forum is the brainchild of Rodd Coonce, owner of Full Circle Florist and originator of the Music at Madison cabaret. It will meet the second Sunday of every month.

“The purpose is to begin bringing people back together, especially after this tumultuous election period,” said Coonce. “I am tired of hearing people argue over religion and politics and saying things like, ‘If you don’t believe the way I believe, you are going to hell’ or, ‘If you don’t vote this way, the whole country is going to hell.’ We are all unique individuals and it is rare that two people are exactly alike in every aspect. No two snowflakes are alike, but when they come together, they make a beautiful scene. No two people are alike, but when we come together, we make war.”

The forum encourages people of all faiths, and atheists, to share their beliefs. The only rule is that no one can argue or debate another person’s beliefs or opinions.

There will be a potluck luncheon after the hour-long session. Potluck dishes are welcome, but not required. For information, call 330-720-4597.
