The Trumbull County commissioners approved an enterprise agreement with JA McMahon Inc., a steel fabricating company on Grant Street in Niles that is carrying out a $2.4 million to $2.6 million expansion.

The agreement, which was approved by Niles City Council last week, is for a 24,000-square-foot, $1 million to $1.1 million addition to existing facilities and $1.4 million to $1.5 million worth of new machinery and equipment.

The agreement eliminates 75 percent of the company’s real-estate taxes for 10 years on the new building.

The expansion is expected to result in the addition of five full-time jobs within three years. The company current has 23 workers.

The company also built an 8,000-square foot addition to its facilities in 2008. That addition also involved a 75 percent abatement for 10 years.

As of the end of 2015, the company had invested more than $1 million in that expansion and added $600,000 worth of other investment.

John McMahon III is president of the company and its third generation owner. The company has been in business since the 1940s, said Julie Edwards, a planner with the Trumbull County Planning Commission, which assisted the company with the agreement.
