POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Nov. 6

Aggravated menacing: A Shetland Lane man reported having been threatened.

Nov. 7

Criminal damaging: A glass-block window sustained $150 in damage on a building in the 4000 block of Dobbins Road.

BOARDMAN

Nov. 4

Theft: A woman noticed eight credit cards missing from a kitchen table in her Claybourne Avenue residence.

Theft: A man reportedly stole three trays of steaks worth a total of $93 from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Attempted fraud: The owner of an East Western Reserve Road cabinet business told police a caller claiming to represent Ohio Edison Co. misrepresented himself by instructing the accuser to disable the business’s alarm system because the power was supposedly to be shut off for repairs.

Identity theft: An Auburn Hills Drive man found out someone without authorization had tried to open a bank account with his personal information.

Stolen property: A vehicle check on Terraview Drive led to the arrest of 36-year-old William E. Stanley, who listed addresses on St. Louis Avenue in Youngstown and Ann Avenue in Niles, and who faced a fifth-degree felony receiving-stolen-property charge. The license plates on Stanley’s car were determined to have been stolen, a report showed.

Theft: Authorities booked Alexis M. Widget of Warwick Drive, Canfield, on a theft charge. The 19-year-old woman was accused of stealing $185 worth of children’s clothing from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: Daurrell A. Miller, 21, of Kendis Circle, Youngstown, was charged with stealing three Xbox 360 video games from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Midlothian Boulevard resulted in the arrest of 44-year-old Richard S. Cummings, who faced one misdemeanor count each of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Cummings, of Wolosyn Circle, Boardman, had a bag containing 11 used needles, four spoons with burn marks common in drug use and two aluminum cans with burn marks on the bottom, police alleged.

Theft: Gregory Byrd, 46, of North Hazelwood Avenue, Youngstown, and 35-year-old Jessica R. Solida of Idaho Road, Austintown, were charged with theft and receiving stolen property, respectively, after about $1,341 worth of shoes, makeup and sweaters was taken from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall. Also, stolen merchandise was found in their vehicle, a report said.

Theft: A man reportedly took seven bottles of perfume worth $523 from Ulta Beauty, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.

Assault: Two people reported having been slapped and punched during an altercation in a parking lot in the 6300 block of South Avenue.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole $129 worth of perfume and two pairs of undergarments from Victoria Secret’s Pink in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Voichita C. Bosca, 44, of Mathews Road, Boardman, was charged in the theft of two pieces of jewelry valued at $155 from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Fraud: A woman told officers that after having paid a deposit for roof construction on her Greenfield Drive home, no work was done.

Nov. 5

Burglary: To a home in the 5200 block of West Boulevard, before the homeowner discovered a window had been pushed in and a door was ajar. Nothing appeared to be missing, however.

Theft: Authorities charged Stacey E. Shopinsky of Robert Frost Drive, Austintown, after alleging Shopinsky, 36, had stolen $288 worth of merchandise, including a sweater, from Kohl’s.

Theft: A man told authorities he had discovered $1,753 missing from a checking account that belongs to a Pearson Circle condominium association.

Breaking and entering/criminal mischief: Someone broke into an unoccupied residence in the 8100 block of Hitchcock Road and spray-painted obscenity-laced graffiti on the walls.

Theft: A Columbiana woman reported a food-stamp card and a debit card missing after a man handed police a wallet he had found at Southern Park Mall.

Domestic violence: A township boy, 16, was charged with the crime after his father alleged the teen had pushed the accuser and punched his arm during an argument about the boy’s wanting to smoke.

Theft: Two women in their 20s or 30s reportedly stole $120 worth of items, including undergarments, from Walmart.

Theft: A woman reportedly fled in a green sport utility vehicle after $890 worth of merchandise was stolen from the J.C. Penney store.

Assault: A Shields Road woman alleged a neighbor had pushed her during an argument related to the neighbor’s children. The victim reportedly fell on her left knee and was taken to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital for treatment.

Theft: A Boardman-Canfield Road man noticed a checkbook and a $250 pair of sunglasses missing from his car.

Theft/criminal damaging: A man reported someone had stolen a political sign from the front yard of his Winterberry Drive home, and that his mailbox was damaged.

Theft: Morgan R. Parker, 30, and 37-year-old Nathan K. Wendell, both of Alice Street, East Palestine, were charged in the theft of $366.50 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. Wendell faced an additional charge of possession of criminal tools and was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant.

Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown girl was accused of stealing $30 worth of items from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Drugs: While responding to an alarm at a Market Street restaurant, officers arrested 33-year-old Ijnanya S. Rollins of Ferncliff Avenue, Boardman, on charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. Found was a folded piece of paper containing a white powdery substance suspected of being 1 gram of cocaine, along with a suspected crack-cocaine pipe, a report stated.

Theft: A $400 laptop computer and $30 were removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Brookfield Avenue.

Nov. 6

Theft: A woman reportedly fled from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road, after stealing three DVDs valued at $111.

Arrest: Police took William D. Belford into custody at his Griswold Drive home. The 31-year-old Boardman man was wanted on a Girard warrant.

Theft: Shayla M. Adams, 26, of Idlewood Avenue, Youngstown, was charged after $186 worth of property, including a pair of jeans, was stolen from the J.C. Penney store.

Theft: Two men were reportedly seen rolling two mounted tires and wheels down a hill behind a South Avenue car dealership.

Nov. 7

Theft: A woman reported miscellaneous clothing, shoes, boots, a flat-screen TV and other belongings stolen from her Argyle Avenue home. The loss was calculated at about $8,000.

Theft: A man reportedly stole two pairs of socks from Kohl’s.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle at a Southern Boulevard residence was found with a smashed windshield. Damage was estimated at $100.

Forgery: A Youngstown woman found out someone had forged and cashed her $389 paycheck at a South Avenue bank.

Theft: A woman reportedly stole 19 articles of clothing and grocery items valued at $139 from Walmart.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage in the 100 block of Argyle Avenue, then removed a $434 snow blower.

Theft: Police picked up 28-year-old Dominique A. Isaacs at the Trumbull County jail on a theft warrant. Isaacs, of Chestnut Avenue, Niles, was accused of stealing items that included several coats Sept. 18 from Ulta Beauty.

Drugs/weapon: Acting on a search warrant for a Shields Road residence, authorities arrested 40-year-old Newell Spann on charges of trafficking in cocaine, being a convicted felon with a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as 53-year-old Lisa A. Golterman on charges of permitting drug use and possession of drug paraphernalia. Spann and Golterman live at the residence.

Theft: A Stadler Avenue man noticed a document missing from his car.
