Courtship in Victorian era is topic of presentation

Alexandra Nicholis Coon and Mandy Altimus Pond of the Massillon Museum will give a presentation on “Victorian Courtship and the Language of the Fan” at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sutliff Museum, inside the Warren Library, 444 Mahoning Ave

It will be the final lecture in this year’s Victorian Collections series at the museum. Admission is free and attendees are invited to bring one or two pieces from their collection for the speakers to comment on.

The presentation will explore courtship rituals and expressions of love prevalent during the Victorian era, with the coded language of the fan as a key facet of courtship. Coffee and refreshments will be served for 30 minutes before the lecture. Go to sutliffmuseum.org.
