Board of control approves property sale to clear way for chill-can facility
YOUNGSTOWN — The board of control approved the sale of four properties on North Lane Avenue today for $165,000 as part of its effort to clear property on the East Side for a $20 million complex to produce the world’s only self-chilling beverage cans.
The sales were finalized today with property owners to be gone within 90 days.
Joseph Co. International broke ground on the site Monday and expect to be in full operation by 2018.
Mayor John A. McNally said the settlement prices with the four property owners were fair as the city didn’t want to go to court to take the parcels by eminent domain.
