Pacers’ George fined for kicking ball to seats

new york

Indiana Pacers forward Paul George has been fined $15,000 for inadvertently kicking the ball into the stands during a victory over Chicago.

The NBA announced the fine Tuesday.

George appeared to be upset Saturday night when no foul was called after he took a shot. He kicked the ball after drawing a foul on the Bulls’ ensuing possession. The ball went into the stands with 1:42 left in the third quarter. The officials called a technical foul and immediately ejected the three-time All-Star.

After the game, George said he intended to kick the ball into the basketball stanchion and joked that his soccer skills were not as good as he thought. George also said he apologized to the fan who was hit by the ball. The fan was not injured.

Ryan responds to taunt, Carroll after loss

buffalo, n.y.

As if losing wasn’t frustrating enough, Bills coach Rex Ryan has a bone to pick with Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and a Seattle fan who taunted Buffalo assistant Kathryn Smith.

Ryan rallied to the defense of Smith, the NFL’s first full-time female assistant, who was the target of a sexist taunt.

Rochester’s WROC-TV filmed a male fan yelling “Waitress!” at Smith and asking her to get him a soda.

Ryan called what the fan yelled as being “ridiculous” and “classless.”

The coach also responded sarcastically when informed Carroll was unhappy the Bills coach called Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman “an ass.” Speaking on a conference call Tuesday, Ryan joked he forgot to check with Carroll first about what his appropriate response should’ve been.

Sherman caused a stir after making a play on the Bills sideline by exchanging words with Ryan in the second half of Buffalo’s 31-25 loss on Monday night.
