YPD probes slaying of 34-year-old man

As of Sunday night, city police detectives were continuing to look for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old Masury man early Sunday at the intersection of Jacobs and McCartney roads adjacent to the Four Seasons Flea and Farm Market on U.S. Route 422.
According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, a flea-market employee opening the business discovered the body lying in a pool of blood beneath his motorcycle. The police report said the shooting, reported at 6:53 a.m., occurred at 3000 McCartney between 4 and 5:10 a.m. The victim appeared to have been sitting on the motorcycle when he was shot, police said. The victim was declared dead at the scene by ambulance personnel. Police are not releasing the name of the victim until his next-of-kin have been notified.
The killing is the 18th homicide of the year. The last one occurred Oct. 22.
Woman found
WARREN
A woman reported missing Friday, who had no contact with family or friends since leaving the First Step Recovery that day, was found about 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Downtown Motor Inn on Mahoning Avenue, according to the Trumbull County 911 Center.
The woman, 27, was described by officials as “alive and well.” Warren police had asked the public to call with any information about the missing woman’s whereabouts.
Free holiday dinner
YOUNGSTOWN
First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., will host a free Thanksgiving dinner for the community from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17.
A full-course turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls, dessert and beverages will be served.
All are welcome, but those with small children or who are unemployed and on fixed incomes are especially encouraged to attend.

Love This Place, a nonprofit organization, is planning to provide emergency materials to the area homeless population by assembling care bags for the homeless at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at Magic Tree Pub & Eatery, 7463 South Ave., Boardman.
The bags contain nonperishable snacks, bottles of water, gloves, hats and blankets.
LTP also is asking participants to help sponsor bags at $20 a bag by donating either by check with “Care Bags” in the memo and sending to P.O. Box 3726 Youngstown, OH 44513 or online at http://lovethisplace.us/giving/.

Collecting food
NEW MIDDLETOWN
Springfield Township and New Middletown Village Fire & EMS Auxiliaries/Associations will be collecting nonperishable food items and toys at any fire station from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 3.
Toys will go to the community Christmas basket program. Food and monetary donations will go to the Springfield Township Council of Churches & Community. A STCCC representative will be available to accept monetary donations. Checks can be made payable to STCCC.
