Steel museum hosts Ohio Works exhibit

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Former steelworkers from the United States Steel Ohio Works will meet with current Youngstown State University students to recognize their work in creating a temporary exhibit tracing the history of the former steel works at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Youngstown Historical Center of Labor and Industry, 151 W. Wood St.

The exhibit, “Comin’ on the Ohio Works,” is in reference to the 1995 Bruce Springsteen song, “Youngstown.”

The students, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Leary, researched the history of the plant, combed through the archives of the labor and industry center and interviewed former workers to create the exhibit.

All former Ohio Works employees, their family members, historians and interested parties are invited to attend this free event and are also encouraged to bring photos and mementos to share.

For information, call 330-301-9830 or contact the labor and history center, also known as the steel museum, at yhcil@ohiohistory.org or 330-941-1314.
