Melania Trump had modeling jobs in US before work visa
WASHINGTON
Melania Trump was paid for 10 modeling jobs in the United States that occurred before she had legal permission to work in the country, according to documents from 20 years ago provided to The Associated Press.
The details of Mrs. Trump’s early paid modeling work in the U.S. emerged in the final days of a bitter presidential campaign in which her husband, Donald Trump, has taken a hard line on immigration laws and those who violate them. Trump has proposed broader use of the government’s E-verify system allowing employers to check whether job applicants are authorized to work. He has noted that federal law prohibits illegally paying immigrants.
Mrs. Trump, who received a green card in March 2001 and became a U.S. citizen in 2006, has always maintained that she arrived in the country legally and never violated the terms of her immigration status. During the presidential campaign, she has cited her story to defend her husband’s hard line on immigration.
Trump accuses Nevada of boosting votes for Democrats
Donald Trump is accusing officials of wrongly keeping polling sites open late in Nevada’s Clark Country in order to boost Democratic early-voting turnout.
There appears to be no evidence that is the case. Trump is making a last-minute visit to the battleground state, drawing thousands of supporters to a rally at a Reno convention center.
Trump is also sounding confident about his chances in the state, despite a surge in early-voting by Democrats and Latinos that has Democrats feeling optimistic.
Trump says, “They didn’t get the kind of vote that they needed to stop us on Tuesday.”
Kaine accuses FBI of working to support Trump
Tim Kaine says some employees at the FBI are “actively working” to support Republican Donald Trump, and the agency has suffered a “massive blow” to its reputation.
The Democratic vice presidential nominee says in an interview with Fusion that the FBI had become a “leaky sieve” and some of its employees have improperly worked to leak information harmful to running mate Hillary Clinton.
FBI Director James Comey told Congress last week that the bureau is looking into newly uncovered Clinton emails. Kaine criticized Comey’s decision, but said he does not think Comey is trying to influence the election. Instead, Kaine said some of Comey’s politically motivated subordinates may have forced his hand.
Pence blasts Hillary
Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence says Hillary Clinton “personifies” the failed status quo.
The Indiana governor told a crowd of hundreds in Holland, Michigan, on Saturday morning that Donald Trump would push “commonsense conservative principles” if elected president. It is Pence’s third consecutive day of campaigning in Michigan, which has not backed a Republican nominee in 28 years. Trump is hoping to change that Tuesday.
