Athena Forum event features live webinar

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have an Athena Forum: Women, Wine and Wisdom that will feature a live webinar with Juliet Funt, chief executive officer of WhiteSpace at Work, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1.

The event will take place at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St.

Funt will teach attendees the difference between activity and productivity, as well as a streamlined method for personal process improvement – leading to more creativity and engagement. Her clients include companies such as Costco, American Express and Nike.

Cost to attend is $30 for chamber members and $40 for nonmembers.

America Makes schedules webinar

YOUNGSTOWN

Every month, America Makes hosts a webinar for individuals or businesses interested in learning more about the first additive manufacturing hub in the U.S.

The next webinar will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Nov. 14.

It will feature an overview of the America Makes program, a discussion of the value of an America Makes membership and a description of the levels of membership at America Makes.

America Makes was started in 2012 as the flagship Institute for Manufacturing USA, the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation, infrastructure of up to 45 Institutes to follow and is driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining.

Small Business Saturday is Nov. 26

Small Business Saturday falls on Nov. 26 this year.

Started in 2010 by American Express, Small Business Saturday was a grass-roots effort to get more customers to small businesses and help boost the economy.

Last year, more than 95 million people shopped on Small Business Saturday, which the highest amount ever achieved since the start of the holiday.

MAGNET hosts event on manufacturing

CLEVELAND

The Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network, MAGNET, will host “State of Manufacturing 2016: Manufacturing, The Economy, the Future” on Nov. 16 at Jergens Inc., 15700 South Waterloo Road.

The event takes place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and will feature Ned Hill, professor of public administration and city and regional planning at Ohio State University’s John Glenn College of Public Affairs.

The $20 event includes networking, breakfast and a tour of the Jergens facility.

AWARDED

The Ohio Economic Development Association recently awarded Randy Partika, CASTLO’s board chairman, with the Excellence in Volunteerism Award for 2016.

Partika earned the award because he secured more than $5 million in grants, managed the transformation of the CASTLO Industrial Park and established the CASTLO Community Fund to help the community grow in perpetuity.
