Man faces charges after being accused of striking woman

AUSTINTOWN — A man faces charges for allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend with a glass jar, according to police reports.

According to police, when officers first responded to a domestic dispute at a Rhode Island Drive home 7 p.m. Friday, Joshua Pytlik, 37 of Rhode Island Drive, told officers he would force his girlfriend out of their home if they wouldn't.

Officers returned to the residence at 8 p.m. after a neighbor reported Pytlik dragging his girlfriend out of the home by her hair.

Reports said, Pytlik grabbed a glass jar full of spaghetti sauce and smashed it against his girlfriends mouth before kneeling on her chest.

When the victim didn't want to pursue charges, however, Officer Dave Kriebel charged Pytlik with domestic violence "due to the seriousness of the crime," reports said.
