Strawberry festival at White House

CANFIELD

The White House Fruit Farm Strawberry Festival will take place June 11 from noon until 4 p.m. on the farm’s grounds on U.S. Route 62, south of Canfield, near the intersection of Western Reserve Road.

In addition to baskets of fresh-picked strawberries, the annual family event will feature an array of strawberry treats, including shortcake, slushes and ice cream.

Families also can go to the strawberry patch that day from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. to pick their own strawberries.

Princess Tea by theater group

YOUNGSTOWN

Top Hat Productions will have a Princess Tea at 2 p.m. June 11 and June 12 at the Fairview Arts & Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road.

The “fantasy come true” event gives young girls the royal treatment. Attendees will sip tea, enjoy a variety of sandwiches, finger foods and desserts and be visited by their favorite princesses. The event will include sing-alongs, storytelling and more.

Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite princess and must be accompanied by an adult.

Proceeds will be used for building and roof repairs and to finance Top Hat’s annual summer youth workshop.

Downtown concerts during arts festival

YOUNGSTOWN

The Summer Festival of the Arts on the campus of Youngstown State University and surrounding area will take place July 9-10, and will be accompanied by live music events downtown.

The annual Youngstown Wine and Jazz Festival will be July 9 on Central Square, while the 2DE Gospel Festival, featuring Fred Hammond, will be July 10. Details on both events will be released soon.

An African-American Heritage Festival will also take place downtown. The date has not yet been released.

Oak Ridge Boys at Mountaineer

CHESTER, W.VA.

The Oak Ridge Boys will come to The Harv auditorium at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort on Aug. 27 for an 8 p.m. concert. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at etix.com.

The legendary country band has scored dozens of hits and earned Grammy, Dove, CMA and ACM awards.

The vocal harmony quartet started out in traditional country and gospel during World War II and evolved with the times, helping to popularize and modernize country music. It went through numerous lineup changes in its early decades before Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden and Richard Sterban took control in the 1960s and early 1970s.

Its hit songs include “I’ll Be True to You,” “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue” and “American Made.”
