Autism Society plans 5K run, walk

AUSTINTOWN

The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley’s third annual Valley Autism 5K — and its inaugural Family Fun Walk — will take place Saturday at Austintown Township Park, 600 Kirk Road. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the first event starts at 8:45 a.m. For information or to pre-register, go to ValleyAutism5K.com or call 330-333-9609.

“We have dedicated ourselves to growing this already successful run into an event with broad appeal to help raise the funds needed to support families affected by autism in the region,” said Aundrea Cika, ASMV program director.

The event will include a 5K run, a new 5K timed walk, a kids fun run and a 1-mile Family Fun Walk. The 5K event is part of Vertical Runner’s Trail Mix series which features a combination of trails and roads to create a unique running experience. Prizes will be awarded to the top runners in each age category, as well as prizes for top fundraising teams.

There will be a DJ, bounce houses, petting zoo, pony rides, Marco’s pizza station, special appearance from Chuck E. Cheese, Gymsters parachute, autism craft vendors, and more, according to Robin Suzelis, president of the ASMV board.
