Summer concert preview: Paul McCartney to KISS

So many concerts, so little time.

That, in a nutshell, describes this year’s summer concert season, which is filled with dozens of legendary acts and newcomers all vying for your entertainment dollar. This year’s lineup includes everyone from Paul McCartney and Keith Urban to Florence + The Machine and Jane’s Addiction.

Here’s a look at the 2016 summer concert season:

COVELLI CENTRE

KISS, 8 p.m., Aug. 26, $36.50, $86.50 and $122.50: The iconic rockers with the fire-breathing show make their Youngstown debut.

Lionel Richie, 7:30 p.m., Aug. 27, $65.50, $85.50 and $136.50: 1980s pop hitmaker brings his tour to Youngstown.

Bryan Adams, 8 p.m., $26.50, $46.50, $66.50 and $86.50: The “Cuts Like a Knife” singer has a new album to promote.

Michael Stanley and the Resonators, 8 p.m., Aug. 13: $35, $47.50 and $65: Northeast Ohio’s favorite rocker never gets old.

Dixie Chicks with Augustana, 7 p.m. Friday, $43 to $137: More than a decade after country music wrote off the controversial Dixie Chicks, the somewhat reclusive “Goodbye, Earl” trio has announced a massive stateside summer tour.

Florence + The Machine with Of Monsters And Men, 7 p.m. Saturday, $26 to $80.50: After the stateside success of 2011 album “Ceremonials,” Florence + The Machine returned recently with its critically acclaimed new album “How Big How Blue How Beautiful.”

Zac Brown Band with Drake White and The Big Fire, 7 p.m. June 24, $35.50 to $71.50: A recent setlist shows the “Jekyll + Hyde” outfit continues its jam-band ways with covers of The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” and Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.”

Rascal Flatts with Kelsea Ballerini, 7 p.m. June 25, $30.50 to $61.25: The Columbus outfit returns to Northeast Ohio armed with its latest No. 1 single “I Like the Sound of That,” which was co-written by Shay Mooney (Dan + Shay) and Meghan Trainor (“All About That Bass”).

Bad Company and Joe Walsh, 7 p.m. June 26, $27 to $132: The co-headlining bill, titled “One Hell of a Night Tour,” finds each act switching off as the opening act. This marks the first time the two ’70s giants have toured together.

Journey and The Doobie Brothers with Dave Mason, 7 p.m. June 29, $37 to $152: Audiences better be ready for one massive sing-along night of hits: “Lovin, Touchin’, Squeezin’,” “Faithfully,” “Lights,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Listen to the Music,” “China Grove,” “Jesus Is Just All Right,” “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” “Long Train Runnin’.”

Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin with Alter Bridge and Saint Asonia, 6:30 p.m. July 13, $29.95 to $87.95: Rock radio fans can get “Down with the Sickness” while reliving the ’00s with Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin.

Keith Urban with Brett Eldredge, 7:30 p.m. July 15, $31 to $65.75: Keith Urban’s recently released eighth studio effort “ripCORD” already boasts the Grammy Award-nominated “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and No. 1 single “Break On Me.”

Vans Warped Tour, 11 a.m. July 20, $29.50 to $40.50: Still the best bang for your concert buck, the Vans Warped Tour’s Blossom Music Center date includes appearances by New Found Glory, Sum 41, Atreyu, Yellowcard, Bullet for My Valentine, Sleeping With Sirens and Falling in Reverse.

G-Eazy with Logic, Yo Gotti and YG, 6:30 p.m. July 27, $30 to $69.50: MC, producer G-Eazy is hitting the road in support of his No. 1 sophomore release “When It’s Dark Out,” which includes the radio hit “Me, Myself & I.”

Miranda Lambert with Kip Moore and Brother Osborne, 7:30 p.m. July 28, $31 to $65.75: In case you didn’t hear, Miranda Lambert has had quite a year. After going through a high-profile divorce from Blake Shelton, the country singer is returning to the road with the “Keeper of the Flame Tour.”

Toby Keith, 7 p.m. Aug. 5, $27 to $89.50: Country singer Toby Keith is still touring his 2015 album “35 MPH Town,” which includes top 30 hit “Drunk Americans.”

Blink-182 with A Day to Remember and All American Rejects, 7 p.m. Aug. 9, $32 to $82: The on-again, off-again existence of Blink-182 finds the pop-punk back together and touring its seventh studio album “California.”

Josh Groban with Sarah McLachlan and Foy Vance, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10, $29.50 to $142: The poperatic singer is still touring his Broadway tribute effort “Stages,” which includes material from “Les Miserables” (“Bring Him Home”), “Carousel” (“You’ll Never Walk Alone”), “A Chorus Line” (“What I Did For Love”) and “Phantom of the Opera” (“All I Ask of You”).

Luke Bryan with Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch, 7 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12, $33.50 to $82.25: Still kicking up dust from his 2015 album “Kill the Lights,” which includes hit “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day,” Luke Bryan returns to the road this summer with two Northeast Ohio shows.

Wiz Khalifa with Snoop Dogg, 7 p.m. Aug. 14, $25 to $70.75: The aptly titled co-headlining joint “High Road Summer Tour” will find Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg collaborating on “You and Your Friends” and the Grammy Award-nominated “Young, Wild and Free.”

Hank Williams Jr. with Chris Stapleton, 7:15, Aug. 19, $29.50 to $105: A little bit of the old school with the new school is what country fans will get when Hank Williams Jr. tours with Chris Stapleton this summer.

Rob Zombie and Korn, 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24, $25 to 69.50: Rob Zombie’s latest album title says it all: “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser.”

Darius Rucker with Dan + Shay and Michael Ray, 7 p.m. Aug. 26, $31 to $50.75: Exactly 20 years ago Hootie and the Blowfish were at their peak. Now the band’s lead singer is flying high as a solo artist still touring his latest effort “Southern Style.”

Def Leppard with REO Speedwagon and Tesla, 7 p.m. Aug. 29, $25 to $99.50: Oh, the memorable hair styles that will be seen on stage and off when Def Leppard, touring its new self-titled album, brings REO Speedwagon and Tesla to Blossom Music Center.

Florida Georgia Line with Cole Swindell, The Cadillac Three and Kane Brown, 7 p.m. Sept. 9, $31 to $65.75: Hoping to maintain its platinum success, Florida Georgia Line is readying the release of its third studio effort “Dig Your Roots,” which includes No. 1 tune “H.O.L.Y.”

Brad Paisley with Tyler Farr and Maddie & Tae, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16, $31 to $60.75: Country superstar Brad Paisley is supposedly working on the follow-up to his 2014 album “Moonshine in the Trunk.” In the meantime, he’s announced a summer tour.

Jason Aldean with Thomas Rhett and A Thousand Horses, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23, $31.50 to $71.50: Multiplatinum artist Jason Aldean is readying the release of a new studio album, which includes his latest single “Lights Come On.”

Coldplay, 7 p.m. Aug. 4: There’s a good argument to be made that Beyonce and Bruno Mars helped save Coldplay from a disastrous Super Bowl appearance this past February. Nevertheless, the Chris Martin-led band has announced a nationwide tour for its latest album “A Head Full of Dreams.”

Drake with Future, 7 p.m. Aug. 17: Drake celebrates his recently released of new CD “View” with a summer tour that so far only includes one Buckeye State show but also a Steel City gig. The Canadian rapper recently scored a multiplatinum hit with lead single, “Hotline Bling.”

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, 7 p.m. Sept. 11: More than 35 years after the release of “The River,” Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are once again touring the album. The act, which started this tour in Pittsburgh earlier this year, returns for a Sept. 11 show.

M83, 7 p.m. June 6: M83 may sound like the latest diet pill or NASA rocket. Instead it’s a French electro-pop artist, whose latest effort is the critically-acclaimed “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.” Now the “Midnight City” artist has announced an American tour.

Ray LaMontagne, 7 p.m. June 12

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, 7 p.m. June 14: The “Thrift Shop” act of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis returned in a big way this year with hit single “Downtown.”

Barenaked Ladies with OMD and Howard Jones, 7 p.m. June 20

A$AP Ferg, Tory Lanez, Joey Bada$$ and New Breed Brass Band, 4 p.m. June 21

Weezer and Panic! At The Disco, 7 p.m. July 3: Emo is alive and well in 2016. When it comes to edifying the next generation of fans, the Weezer and Panic! At The Disco tour presents both an old school and new school vibe.

Brand New and Modest Mouse, 7 p.m. July 5: Fans of Brand New will be happy to hear the group recently released new music. The single “Meme” dropped last month.

Bush & Chevelle, 7 p.m. July 29: After the year Gavin Rossdale has had with his high-profile divorce from Gwen Stefani, the grunge rocker needs to get back to his music. Perhaps that’s why Bush and Chevelle have announced a co-headlining summer jaunt.

Phillip Phillips & Matt Nathanson, 7 p.m. Aug. 2: American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips and singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson are teaming up for a co-headlining jaunt.

O.A.R., 7 p.m. Aug. 5: O.A.R. celebrates its 20th anniversary this a summer tour that brings the “That Was a Crazy Game of Poker” band back to our area. It’s a homecoming gig of sort for Liberty Township native Jerry DePizzo.

Halsey, 8 p.m. Aug. 9

Blues Traveler & The Wallflowers, 7 p.m. Aug. 20: If you miss ’90s alternative music, you can get your fix with a co-headlining show featuring the Blues Traveler and The Wallflowers. Adding even more intrigue are opening acts G. Love & Special Sauce along with Howie Day.
