Country club to host hometown author

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Country Club, 1402 Country Club Drive, will host an evening with hometown author, speaker and relationship counselor April Kirkwood, and her new book, “Big Girls Do Cry.” It will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. June 14.

She will reminisce about growing up in Youngstown in the ’60s and ’70s, recount her small-town life, the emotional climate of that period and what went with it, and share how her three-decade affair with celebrity Frankie Valli affected her adult love life.

The lives of the women in “Big Girls Do Cry” weave together adventures of lovers, husbands, babies and careers, while empowering others to embrace their own lives and the women they love with a fresh, new outlook and a brighter future.
