CPR instruction

CPR instruction

COLUMBUS

Schools soon could be required to provide CPR instruction to students as part of their coursework. The provision was included in legislation that passed the Ohio House and Senate before lawmakers left the Statehouse for their summer recess. The bill now heads to Gov. John Kasich for his signature and final enactment.

House Bill 113 would require instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators for high-school students as part of health classes starting in the 2017-18 school year. Teachers also would have to receive training on the use of automated external defibrillators.
