Commission has two finalists for Youngstown schools CEO job

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown City Schools Academic Distress Commission expects to pick the chief executive officer for the city school district on Tuesday.

After interviewing six candidates Wednesday and today, the panel picked two candidates as finalists.

Those finalists are Krish Mohip, of Chicago public schools; and Tyrone Olverson, superintendent of Finneytown schools, near Cincinnati.

Brian Benyo, commission chairman, said both candidates have extensive educational experience as teachers and principals, as well as instructional leadership skills.

The panel will meet again at 9 a.m. Tuesday and Benyo said it expects to make a decision.
