South Schenley sinkhole has been filled

YOUNGSTOWN

A sinkhole on South Schenley Avenue caused by a broken 30-inch storm-sewer line was backfilled today.

Other work to pave the road and fix the curb will be finished by Friday, said Charles Shasho, deputy director of the city’s public-works department.

The sinkhole was discovered Monday afternoon and the sewer line repaired this afternoon.

The problem didn’t cause the road to close, Shasho said.

The sinkhole was just north of McCollum Road on the city’s West Side.
