Volunteers sought for ICan Shine camp

The Down Syndrome Association of the Valley is seeking volunteers, ages 15 and older, to assist during the third annual ICan Shine bike camp for individuals with a disabilities. Volunteers will walk, jog or run alongside assigned camp participants as they learn to ride a bike.

The camp will take place from June 13 to 17 at Glenwood Middle School, 7635 Glenwood Ave. Volunteers can choose one of five 75-minute teaching sessions between 9:30 a.m. and 6:25 p.m. Volunteers are asked to commit to the same session time for each day of the camp; riders often are more successful when familiar with their helpers. A volunteer training session for new volunteers is set for 6:30 p.m. June 12 at the school.
