Lampanelli will play Mountaineer

Drum and chant workshop planned

Jim Donovan, an educator and founding member of the multiplatinum-selling band Rusted Root, will offer his Drum & Chant Workshop on June 3, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Bella Nitesh Spiritual Arts & Education Center, 837 Boardman Canfield Road. Registration begins at 6:45 p.m..

This interactive, beginner-friendly event offers an evening of ecstatic drumming, meditative chanting and sound healing techniques under the direction of Donovan. Participants will learn the power of rhythm and voice as a way to relieve stress, gain clarity of mind and stimulate creativity. Participants also will practice ways to use sound to effectively increase individual energy in a friendly, supportive environment.

Donovan provides a large selection of authentic African drums called djembes for participants to use during the workshops.
