The Davis Family YMCA, 45 McClurg Road, will host a Splash Into Summer swimming safety event in cooperation with GLI Pool Products from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Registration is free and open to 100 children age 6 to 12.
The event will encourage parents to take an active role in fostering a relationship between their children and swimming beginning with water safety. Smart swimming guidelines will be stressed.

Tina Goynes, a co- occurring treatment program manager of Meridian HeathCare, will host “Understanding Co-Occurring Addiction and Treatment” as part of the Now You Know series at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Boardman library, 7680 Glenwood Ave.
May is National Mental Health Month. Co-occurring addiction and treatment involves individuals who are dealing with substance use and mental-health issues at the same time.
This talk will focus on the struggles these individuals face, different levels of care available, integrated treatment methods and resources in the community.
This series is presented by Meridian HealthCare and the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County.
