Finals of the 29th annual K.O. Drugs High School Boxing are Wednesday with 21 championship bouts on the line at the Old School Marketplace.

“After some very competitive semifinal bout last week, we are pleased to present the very best in the area matched against each other,” said Chuck Nelson, founder and tournament director.

Super featherweights Brandon Woolard of LaBrae and Sharon’s Calvin Davis will get the action started with lightweight Ivan Bosnjak (Boardman), a winner over Steubenville’s Danny Young in last week’s semi-finals, taking on Roraggio Ford of Alliance.

Ford scored a unanimous decision over Davis in a hotly contested bout last Wednesday.

Super heavyweight Coaltin Barcey of Leetonia will go up against Crestview’s Daniel Sinclair (Crestview) while in a junior super heavyweight scrap, Tavares Hodge of Valley Christian will meet Chavion Young of Alliance.

Indian Creek’s Justin McCann takes on Roger Shaffer of Struthers in a heavyweight pairing while in junior heavyweight action, Terrell Neely (home school) entertains Sean Perseghetti of Greenville.

Barcey won by split decision, Sinclair scored a second-round TKO while McCann earned a unanimous decision during the tourney’s semi-final round.

A cruiserweight clash will feature Keystone’s Will Price and Travis Metz of Mathews while in a junior cruiserweight battle, Brookfield’s David Swope meets Dylan Glancy, also of Mathews.

A light heavyweight match-up will feature Evan Collins of Boardman and Sharon’s Bradin Bender and at junior light heavyweight, Girard’s Robert Dolwick goes up against Canyon Eels of Greenville.

Bender barely broke a sweat in last week’s action as he scored a first-round TKO while Collins won by unanimous decision.

Young will meet Jared Finley of South Range in a super lightweight pairing, Canfield’s Ryan Housteau takes aim at Fausto Abinosa of Sharon in a light welterweight

battle while at junior welterweight, Girard’s Bryce Jones meets Nate Cordova of Canfield.

Two other pairings to keep an eye on include a welterweight match-up between LaBrae’s Noah Spay and Broc Eakle of Indian Creek, and a super welterweight scrap that has Clinton Ewing of Howland meeting Canfield wrestler Georgio Poullas.

Tickets are $9 for students and $15 for adults and will be available at the door the night of each event.
