Fanfare: YSU’s new floor pattern is really for the birds

YSU’s new floor pattern is really for the birds

SPORTS EDITOR:

Garbage in, Garbage out. Yes, I’m getting older, but I pick tradition over trendy every time. I’m disgusted to see YSU staining the basketball floor in a field pattern. I saw Oregon’s on TV. It looks horrible, ridiculous and ugly. What’s next? Changing the football uniforms every week like a scrambled egg, phoney-balogna mess? Many years ago, I went to the Hula Bowl and enjoyed seeing the players with their team helmets. Then, they started exchanging decals, and now you don’t know which team they are. Instead of representing their college, they are disrespecting their school. Recently, my neice bought a football jersey from a local athlete. It was raffled off and she paid a lot of money for it. Sadly, the autographed jersey was stuffed so you couldn’t read it. Shame on the individual for not taking the time to do it right. Finally, I’d like to ask President Tressel to NOT add a building connecting Jones Hall to the library. This proud building should stand alone! This will cheapen and ruin its legacy as the first building on campus. I’m totally for good, positive progress. I’m totally against stupid, cheesey changes that disrespect the past. Old School is cool! Jones Hall No. 1, the only one!
