“X-Men: Apocalypse,” the latest superhero blockbuster, hits movie theaters this week. Here are some facts, from imdb.com:

v End of the arc: This will be the final film in the First Class story arc, which also consisted of “X-Men: First Class” (2011) and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” (2014).

v Title tale: The film was to be called “Age of Apocalypse,” after the comic of the same name. But this was changed to simply “Apocalypse” for a more ominous title, as well as to avoid comparison with “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015) and “Transformers: Age of Extinction” (2014).

v Ending and beginning: Bryan Singer, director, has called this film “kind of a conclusion of six X-Men films, yet a potential rebirth of younger, newer characters.”

v Dazzling: It is rumored that the mutant Dazzler will make an appearance in the movie, according to writer Simon Kinberg.

v Nightcrawler: This is the second film appearance for Nightcrawler since his debut on “X2: X-Men United.”

“Billboard Music Awards” (8 p.m., ABC): Ciara and Ludacris host the bash in Las Vegas, where performers include Justin Bieber, the Go-Go’s, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, Pink, Britney Spears and more.

“Wallander” (9 p.m., PBS): The gloomy “Masterpiece” detective series comes to an end.

“Preacher” (10 p.m., AMC): This audacious, violent, profane and completely deranged new drama is based on a cult comic book. It follows a Texas minister (Dominic Cooper) with a dark past, who becomes possessed by some kind of supernatural entity that causes him to develop an unusual power. When he teams up with his kick-butt ex-girlfriend (Ruth Negga) and a foul-mouthed Irish vampire (Joe Gilgun), all hell breaks loose.
