Jordan Kennedy was arraigned on a robbery charge Friday in municipal court, and the person he was accused of robbing was arraigned in that same court on drug charges.

Kennedy is accused of taking money and other items from Anna Jones in April.

Kennedy, 24, of East Marion Avenue, is in the Mahoning County jail on $25,000 bond on charges of aggravated robbery, obstructing official business and tampering with evidence.

Jones, 54, of East Avondale Avenue, is in the jail on $15,000 bond after she was arrested about 5 p.m. Thursday at her home on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports, members of the vice squad who served a search warrant at her home investigating drug activity found 26 bags of suspected crack cocaine on a couch, a bag of suspected crack cocaine in her bra, a pill bottle filled with suspected marijuana cigarettes, a scale and about $400 in cash.

Police accused Kennedy of being one of three men who forced their way inside Jones’ home about 11:25 p.m. April 11. Reports said Jones heard a knock on her back door, and when she opened it, there was a man there who was a cousin of a friend.

The man came inside, and another man carrying a gun followed him inside. That man put a gun to Jones’ head and demanded money, reports said.

A third man then came inside the home and the three took Jones’ purse, which had $250 and a cellphone, reports said.

Jones and Kennedy were both arraigned before Magistrate Anthony Sertick via video hookup from the jail.

Kennedy was arrested about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday after police pulled over a car in which he was a passenger in the 500 block of Dickson Avenue on the South Side for having no license-plate light. Reports said Kennedy appeared to be nervous and gave police a name but said he did not know his Social Security number.

When it became apparent Kennedy gave the officers a false name, he was arrested for obstructing official business and taken to jail. On his way to jail he gave police his real name, then tried to destroy a cellphone he had on him, telling officers, “They’re going to want to get into that,” reports said.

Reports said Kennedy told officer Michael Medvec he knew police would want his phone as evidence, which is the reason he tried to destroy it.

Jones and Kennedy are expected to have preliminary hearings in municipal court next week.
