Submit information on VBS activities

Lists of vacation Bible schools open to the public will be published on the Religion page.

Please include the following information: the complete name of the church; address with city or township; time, date and location of sessions; program theme; ages or grades; and whether it’s free or there is a fee. Information should be submitted two weeks before the school’s opening or its registration deadline.

The Religion deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday for publication that Saturday. Send the information to the Religion Desk by email to religion@vindy.com; by fax to 330-747-6712 and marked for religion desk; or by mail to The Vindicator, P.O. Box 780, Youngstown, OH 44501-0780.

For verification, include a name and phone number of a contact person, which will not be published.

Celebration set

YOUNGSTOWN

Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2003 Wilson Ave., will have a musical appreciation celebration for Jewel Jennings at 4 p.m. May 29.

Jennings is a longtime church member and head deaconess. She also supervises the kitchen.

Choirs and soloists are invited.

Memorial Day Mass

LOWELLVILLE

St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Villa Marie Road, will have the annual Memorial Day Mass at 9 a.m. May 30 in the cemetery hall.

Refreshments will follow.

Blessing is reset

hUBBARD

The second annual Blessing of the Bikes will be Sunday at First Baptist Church, 59 Orchard Ave. The event was originally set May 15 but rescheduled because of inclement weather.

The day will start with a special worship service of celebration and music at 10:15 a.m. with the Rev. Luke Oskin presenting the sermon message. After worship, all riders should meet at their bike with Pastor Oskin and members of the diaconate offering a personal blessings and addressing any special prayer needs.

A free picnic of hot dogs and popcorn will cap off the day of celebration. Parking for bikes will be across the street from the church at the board of education lot. Security for unattended motorcycles during worship will be provided. Each rider will receive a gift that day.

Mission focus will be the collection of disposable diapers to be distributed to Hubbard families who have a need. A special offering for this mission outreach will also be taken that day.

Evangelist to speak

Evangelist Tim Stowe will share testimony on his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction at 10:30 a.m. May 29 at Lucille Orr Ministries, LifeCare Ministry Center, 5357 S. Raccoon Road.

A prayer ministry will be available.

Crabb in concert

Jason Crabb and band will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. May 28 at Pleasant Valley Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Road.

Tickets are $10. Advance tickets may be bought through the church Facebook page or at the door.

Crabb, a Grammy winner, is a versatile singer whose styles include Gospel, country, pop and Southern Gospel. “Whatever the Road” is the title of his Reunion Records debut.
