Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Diocese of Youngstown Office of Religious Education plans an orientation meeting for the Loyola University New Orleans Institute for Ministry Extension (LIMEX/LIMflex) Program from 6 to 9 p.m. June 8 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, St. James Church hall, 50 Rosemont Road, North Jackson.

Prospective students overview the graduate ministry education program of study, sign a learning agreement, and register and schedule for Course One: Introduction to Practical Theology.

Clergy, lay ministers and others interested in a graduate degree in religious education or pastoral studies are welcome. Registration for the orientation meeting is requested.

Loyola Institute for Ministry, in cooperation with dioceses and other sponsoring agencies across the United States, Scotland, England, Canada, Switzerland, Belize and Nigeria, responds to the needs of ecclesial ministers with limited access to Catholic graduate ministry formation opportunities by offering on-site programs leading to a master of religious education and a master of pastoral studies degrees with focus areas such as digital culture and ministry, pastoral life and administration, religion and ecology, marketplace ministry, Christian spirituality for ministers and youth ministry.

Continuing education and post- undergraduate certificate options are also available.

In the LIMflex 12-course and 36- graduate-credit curriculum, students take six core theological courses in learning groups led by a LIMEX certified facilitator. Students complete their studies online for three focus area courses, two elective courses and the capstone course. Sessions for each course employ a learning design in which the required reading and other assignments are correlated with the participant’s experience by means of reflective processes.
