Elderly woman indicted on drug charges
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a 75-year-old Seneca Avenue woman on several drug charges.
Ada Irby faces charges of possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of marijuana with forfeiture specifications.
The heroin charges also contain a major drug offender specification because a large quantity of the drug was found when Irby was arrested.
Police arrested Irby on March 23 after members of the vice squad served a search warrant at her home. Reports said the officers found a pound of suspected heroin, which they estimated to be worth about $100,000.
Officers also found a revolver in the home along with suspected cocaine and a large amount of suspected marijuana.
Reports at the time also said Irby matched the description of the person selling drugs from the home when officers typed an affidavit for the search warrant. Irby has been free on bail.
