Landlord reports ax attack in Y’town

YOUNGSTOWN

A South Heights Avenue man was arrested about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of felonious assault after police said he hit his landlord in the face with an ax. Jason Swegan, 41, is expected to be arraigned today in municipal court.

According to police reports, police were called to a home in the 1600 block of South Heights for a report of a fight. When they arrived they found Swegan’s landlord lying in the driveway bleeding from the face. Reports said a witness told police they saw Swegan hit the man with an ax.

The landlord told police he came to the property and found Swegan putting up a fence. The two argued and Swegan hit him, reports said.

Swegan told police the landlord grabbed his arm and he picked up the closest object available and hit him.

The landlord was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Domestic violence charges in Boardman

BOARDMAN

A township woman faces multiple domestic-violence charges in connection with an incident reported at a Shields Road residence Wednesday.

Brittany Robinson, 22, of Shields Road, is charged with one felony count of domestic violence and one misdemeanor count of the offense.

The charges stem from the allegation that Robinson threw rocks at a pregnant woman’s stomach, and slapped, scratched and pushed another woman. The dispute started, Robinson told police, because she was hungry and the two women would not give her money for food.

Although she sustained an injury in the altercation, Robinson was determined to be the primary aggressor, according to a police report. She was taken to the Mahoning County jail, pending a court appearance.
