2 teen boys stabbed in Mecca

CORTLAND

Boys 15 and 16 years old from Hoagland Blackstub Road in Mecca Township were stabbed in an argument with three other juveniles and an adult about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday along Hoagland Blackstub.

The victims were taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital — one for a severe laceration, the other for apparent minor injuries. Both were later released.

Trumbull County deputies said the dispute began over the three males trespassing on one of the victim’s property.

But it escalated after Terry Wilburn, 48, of North Road, arrived and punched a third victim in the face, according to a police report.

The two victims who were later stabbed and a third juvenile with them jumped on Wilburn, but one of the teens with Wilburn pulled out a knife and stabbed the two victims, deputies said.

Deputies later located Wilburn and the three teens in a van in the parking lot at Walgreens in Cortland.

Wilburn pleaded not guilty in Central District Court Wednesday to assault and having an open container of alcohol, and bond was set at $5,000. The teen with the knife, 15, of Farmdale, was charged in juvenile court with two counts of felonious assault.
