Crash follows chase; troopers investigate

GIRARD

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred at about 7:11 a.m. Wednesday in Girard after a police chase.

Officers with Hermitage (Pa.) Police Department and the Shenango Township (Pa.) Police Department were pursuing Daniel Disiero, 35, of Connecticut on Interstate 80 after he was accused of driving a stolen vehicle, according to an OSHP news release.

Disiero ran a red light onto U.S. Route 422, cutting into the path of another car driven by Linda Dutko, 61, of Warren, the OSHP states.

Dutko’s car struck Disiero’s, causing Disiero’s car to spin off the roadway and strike a utility pole. Both drivers were transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for minor injuries. Dutko was wearing a seat belt.

Disiero is charged with receiving stolen property, aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to yield at a red light and not wearing a seat belt.
