Overtime pay

WASHINGTON

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, on Wednesday applauded the finalization of a new U.S. Department of Labor rule that would effectively double the salary threshold for those eligible for overtime pay.

Under this new rule, those making at or below $47,476 per year now will be eligible for overtime compensation. Currently, workers earning more than $23,660 per year are not eligible for these benefits. The department estimates about 4.2 million salaried workers will be affected by this rule change based on their salaries.
