YSU announces $1M gift from Navarros

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel announced this morning a $1 million gift from Shorty and Elba Navarro.


The money will be used for student scholarships and work opportunities.

Flor "Shorty" Navarro owns Stadium GM Superstore in Salem. He came to the city from Puerto Rico as a teenager. His wife, Elba, is a retired city school teacher and a YSU graduate.


Navarro is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
