Boardman police take action on a pair of retail thefts


BOARDMAN — Township police are investigating a robbery reported at Kohl's, 383 Boardman-Poland Road, Tuesday.

A store employee reported that a woman entered the store at about 2 p.m., concealed approximately $250 worth of merchandise in her purse, then attempted to exit the store. The woman reportedly dropped the items when an alarm sounded, pushed the store employee when confronted, and escaped in a vehicle she was driving.

In other news, township police arrested a suspect wanted for a May 6 robbery reported at Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Joshua Laughlin, 36, of West Virginia, was arrested on a warrant for the second-degree felony offense Tuesday.

A police report from the incident alleges that Laughlin punched a store employee who attempted to apprehend him for stealing safety glasses and filling a backpack with other items.
