Boardman police investigating one attempted robbery, arrest suspect in another robbery

BOARDMAN — Police are investigating a robbery Tuesday at Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

A store employee reported a woman entered the store about 2 p.m., concealed about $250 worth of merchandise in her purse, then attempted to leave without paying. According to a police report, the woman purportedly dropped the items when an alarm sounded, pushed the store employee when confronted, and escaped in a vehicle she was driving.

In another matter, police arrested a suspect wanted for a May 6 robbery reported at Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Joshua Laughlin, 36, of West Virginia, was arrested on a warrant for the second-degree felony.

A police report from the incident says that Laughlin purportedly punched a store employee who attempted to apprehend him for taking safety glasses and filling a backpack with other items.
