Trumbull County Family Court gets $406K in state money


WARREN — The Trumbull County Family Court has been awarded grants from the Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio Department of Youth Services and other state sources totaling nearly $406,000.

The court, led by Judges Pamela Rintala and Sandra Stabile Harwood, received a $34,000 Detention Alternative and Enhancement grant from the Ohio Department of Youth Services to help fund short-term youth placements that do not require use of the county’s Juvenile Justice Center.

It was awarded a $10,858 Detention Alternative and Enhancement grant from the Ohio Department of Youth Services to replace faulty lighting in the gymnasium. It was awarded a $15,085 technology grant from the Ohio Supreme Court to purchase electronic finger printing equipment.

It will receive two technology grants – $16,526 and $9,706 – from the Ohio Supreme Court to upgrade the security system.

The court was awarded a $39,752 Innovative Grant Fund award from the Ohio Supreme Court to pay Community Legal Aid to provide assistance, along with the Trumbull County Bar Association, to assist self-represented litigants in family court.

The court is also in line to receive money from the 2016 Ohio capital budget and additional funds from the Ohio DYS to upgrade security and replace a broken air-conditioning system. The total is about $280,000.
