Taxi driver hospitalized after late-night stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN — A taxi driver is in stable condition at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after he was stabbed in the stomach at about 11:10 p.m. Monday.

Reports said officers were called to a home in the 2700 block of Gibson Avenue, where the 33-year-old driver told them he picked up two men and a woman at a home in the 1300 block of Ivanhoe Avenue.

When the driver told them he needed the fare up front, the woman stabbed him in the stomach and the man pulled a gun, reports said. They then ran away.
