The Youngstown Charter Review Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the community room of the Covelli Centre, 229 E. Front St. The commission is looking at the city charter to recommend and agree on changes to city council. The commission plans to resume deliberations on the topics of the city charter Sections 18, 30 and 31.

Patrol car struck

NEW SPRINGFIELD

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper is being treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries after another vehicle struck his patrol car. Keith McColpin, 48, of Imperial, Pa., was driving westbound on the Ohio Turnpike in Springfield Township about 12:20 p.m. Monday when he struck the rear end of a patrol car driven by Tony Stephens, 50, of the Hiram OSHP post. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the OSHP. McColpin sustained no reported injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Man stabbed

YOUNGSTOWN

A man being treated for a knife wound Friday evening told police he was stabbed while trying to break up a fight at a basketball game on the South Side.

Reports said police were called about 10:20 p.m. to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center, where the 24-year-old victim told them he was on East Boston Avenue where a friend of his was playing basketball and got into an argument with another man. After he was stabbed, the victim ran to his home and was driven to the hospital. He was in good condition at the hospital, reports said.

Obama interview

Youngstown State University alum Chris Geidner, legal editor of BuzzFeed News, interviewed President Barack Obama on Monday. Geidner grew up in Austintown and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from YSU in 2001. The interview also will be available on Facebook Live.
