NILES

Travis Whitecotton had three hits and Paul Stubbs notched two RBIs to pace Springfield past Niles. Garrett Pitts had two hits for the Red Dragons. Zach Diluaro, Chase Johnson and Whitecotton all pitched two scoreless innings for the Tigers.

SOFTBALL

Salem 9-9, Western Reserve 3-1

SALEM

The Quakers played out the end of their postponed game from April 1 in game one of the doubleheader. Salem’s Sydney Kline hit a home run to right center, doubled and racked up four RBIs in the conclusion of the game. Bailee Thorn and Rylee Thorn each doubled in the win. In game two, which lasted six innings, Clara Janofa struck out seven in five innings. Kline and Katie Moore each had two hits. Arianna Gregorino scored the run for Western Reserve.

Champion 8, Mathews 3

CHAMPION

Megan Turner had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs as Champion (24-4) downed Mathews (21-6) in a regular-season contest. Amber Ricci, Mckenzie Zigmnont and Carli Swipas all had two RBIs for the Golden Flashes as well. Maddie Grimes doubled twice and singled to pace Mathews.
