UPDATE | Mill Creek MetroParks board meeting gets ugly, jeers, booing reported

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mill Creek MetroParks board meeting tonight devolved into jeers, booing and shouting, with one woman ripping her shirt off and striding out of the meeting room during public comment.

For the third month in a row, the monthly board meetings have drawn large crowds of people, many of whom have spoken out in opposition to a February staff restructuring.

Although the meeting began with a softer tone, it quickly heated up.

Many crowd members booed and shouted as one woman, of Youngstown, spoke in support of MetroParks leadership.

"You have had to put up with these bullies and loud mouths for months," she said to the board. "You protesters think you're the majority. But I've got news for you: we're sick of you."

At one point during the woman's comments, another woman from the audience stood up, stripped off her shirt, tossed it toward the podium, then strode out of the room.
