SOUTHWOODS CELEBRATES 20 YEARS

The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods will celebrate its 20 years in business with a concert for the Valley.

June 1996: Outpatient surgery center opens with four operating rooms and two endoscopy suites.

November 2001: Fifth operating room placed into service to meet increasing surgical demand.

October 2004: 20,000-square-foot expansion at the surgery center

June 2005: Expansion of central sterile supply.

February 2006: Sixth operating room placed into service to meet demand.

August 2008: Inpatient hospital expansion started.

April 2009: Conversion to acute-care hospital completed: included 36 registered inpatient beds; three orthopedic operating rooms; central sterile processing; pharmacy and dietary sections; and radiology section. Also received Medicare certification.

October 2010: Addition of two sleep center locations.

September 2011: First Women’s Choice award received.

September 2012: Southwoods receives Joint Commission Top Performer award; Press Ganey Summit award; and Women’s Choice award.

March 2013: Hitchcock Imaging location acquired.

October 2013: Addition of three operating rooms at Southwoods.

April 2014: Southwoods Imaging opens, bringing in 3T MRI and fixed PET/CT to Mahoning County.

October 2014: Press Ganey Beacon of Excellence award received; and robotic surgery program initiated.

2015: Women’s Choice award; Press Ganey Beacon of Excellence award; Joint Commission Top Performer award; Guardian of Excellence award; Pinnacle of Excellence award; and CMS five-star rating.

June 2016: 20th anniversary
