Parts of South Texas face heavy rain, flooding, more storms


CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Thunderstorms in parts of South Texas have dumped up to 6 inches of rain and led to some flood-related rescues in Corpus Christi.

No injuries were reported Monday in Corpus Christi, where emergency management officials reported high-water rescues from vehicles and low-lying areas. A city statement says everyone was safely transported to higher ground.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning Monday morning for parts of Aransas (uh-RAN’-suhs), Nueces (nyoo-AY’-sis), San Patricio and Refugio (ray-FYOO’-ee-oh) counties. A flash flood watch was in effect for Corpus Christi and Victoria, as forecasters warned of more strong storms.

Authorities recorded 4 to 6 inches of rain in the area since midnight Sunday.

The Houston was also getting soaked. A flash flood watch was issued through Monday afternoon for the Galveston area.
