Corpus Christi gets foot of rain, some roads flooded

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Thunderstorms in parts of South Texas have dumped up to a foot of rain and led to some flood-related rescues in Corpus Christi.

No injuries were reported Monday in Corpus Christi, where emergency management officials reported high-water rescues from vehicles and low-lying areas. A city statement says everyone was safely transported to higher ground.

National Weather Service forecaster Penny Zabel says the area has received 10 to 12 inches of rain since Sunday, causing street flooding. Zabel says it could be raining in Corpus Christi all week.

Forecasters issued a flash flood warning this morning for parts of Aransas, Nueces, San Patricio and Refugio counties.

The Houston area was also getting soaked. A flash flood watch was issued through this afternoon for the Galveston area.
