OVI checkpoint tonight in Boardman

BOARDMAN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that an operating a vehicle impaired checkpoint will be from 8 p.m. to midnight on Market Street near Ferncliff Avenue with the Mahoning County OVI Task Force.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grants, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The checkpoint also is in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink and drive, the patrol said in a news release.
