Niles 5, West Branch 4, 8 innings

NILES

West Branch scored one in the top of the eighth but couldn’t shut the door as Niles came back with a pair to walk off. Damien Coleman went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Red Dragons who move on to play Marlington in a district semifinal on Thursday at Cene Park. Jaret Johnson went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Ursuline 5, Hubbard 1

STRUTHERS

Vinny Lucente pitched seven innings of one-run ball as Ursuline downed Hubbard in the sectional final. Hubbard’s Brett Lopuchovsky drove in a run in the top of the sixth to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, but the Fighting Irish answered with five runs in the bottom half. Logan Pullin went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Ursuline, Drew Potesta had a two-run double and Anthony Potesta went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Colin Shinosky tossed five innings and allowed two runs for Hubbard, which was led by Jaime Thompson’s two hits.

Poland 9, Southeast 1

POLAND

Dan Klase pitched six innings and notched eight strikeouts and Eric White singled, doubled and tripled to lead Poland in a sectional final. Anthony Calcagni hit a three-run home run and Tony Chiaro had two hits. Travis Hunley doubled and homered for Southeast.

Division I

Stow 2, Howland 1

STOW

Trailing 2-0 headed into the seventh, the Tigers brought around Jackson Deemer to score on a Hayden Parker base hit but couldn’t grab a tying run. Jeremy Parton pitched six innings for Stow, allowing only one hit and striking out four Howland batters.

Regular season

Boardman 8, South Range 3

BOARDMAN

The Spartans scored all eight of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Gavin Striner had three hits, including a double, for Boardman, while Lou Cardona and Coleman Stauffer each doubled and singled. Travis Jones earned the win in relief. Jack Baierski and Brandon Youngs each had three hits for South Range.

Mathews 10, Southington 9

MATHEWS

Bryan Oatridge and Rob Helmick each had three hits for Mathews, while Anthony Qulton and Kolan Elser had two hits apiece. Helmick also had three RBIs for the Mustangs. Ryan Kay earned the win in relief, striking out two.

Brookfield 8, Berkshire 3

BROOKFIELD

Kenzie Drapola smacked a two-run home run and Lauren Pesa tallied three RBIs in Brookfield’s first sectional title since 1992. Gabby Schiska got the win, striking out eight while allowing five hits and four walks. The Warriors will play defending-state-champion Champion on Wednesday.

Division IV

McDonald 11, Fairport Harding 3

MCDONALD

Olivia Sanson and Rachel Ward slugged home runs, Ward’s being a three-run shot, as the Blue Devils won a sectional title. Cheyenne Titus struck out 14 while picking up two base hits at the plate. Kendra Kelly added two hits. McDonald plays Bristol in a district semifinal on Wednesday at Candlelite Knolls.

Western Reserve 14, Sebring 3

BERLIN CENTER

A 10-run second inning propelled Western Reserve to a sectional title. Maddie Kreitzburg pitched all five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Jenny Stubbs had two hits and three RBIs while Maia Cormell and Sydney Miller each had two RBIs to join in the scoring frenzy. Western Reserve will play St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Lisbon 7, Wellsville 1

LISBON

Kennedy Vrable went 3 for 3 with three RBIs to lead Lisbon, Devyn Flory notched two hits and two RBIs and Karlee Pezzano had two hits and an RBI in a Division IV sectional final. Sam Tinsley struck out seven and allowed eight hits. Mystic Beatty went 3 for 3 for Wellsville.

Division II

West Branch 6, Canton South 0

BELOIT

Grace Heath went 4 for 4 with two RBIs to lead West Branch in a Division II sectional final, while Bailey Byers notched three hits, including two doubles. Kylie Coffelt allowed six hits in five innings for the Warriors in Thursday’s game.
