BOARDMAN
Bond was set at $110,000 for a Struthers man accused of crashing his vehicle into a Burger King restaurant and a police cruiser earlier this week while under the influence of an opioid drug.
Appearing in Mahoning County Area Court on Thursday, Anthony Williams, 21, of Como Street, is charged with felonious assault and felony failure to comply with the order of a police officer, in addition to misdemeanor counts of possession of drug-abuse instruments and operating a vehicle while impaired. His bond was set at a total of $110,000 – $50,000 cash or surety, for each of the felony charges, and $5,000 cash or surety for each of the misdemeanors.
He will be granted a court-appointed attorney and is scheduled to be back in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
The charges stem from an incident Tuesday in which Williams purportedly fled from a township officer who got called to the Hillman Way parking lot where Williams was parked.
Williams had to be revived with an opioid-overdose antidote after crashing his vehicle.
