Night of fun for mothers and sons

Poland Union hosted its annual Mother Son night on April 21.
The PTO worked the past few months to put together a Mother Son night with a Minute to Win it theme. There were several stations for the sons and their mothers to participate it. The gym was filled with games, the greenhouse outside was open for planting flowers and there was pizza and drinks in the cafeteria.
“There are games that you can play within a minute. They’re fun and they get the boys up and moving and active,” said Shawna Lewis, the chair person for the event.
The majority of the games were competitive games which made the children excited to compete against each other. There was a game to see who could stack the most apples, ones to see who could stack the most items on a plate on the son or mothers head and a many others.
Many of the children had fun in the gym playing with the balloons that floated around. There were also students and their mothers lined up to see the upgraded 120-gallon fish tank that was put up over spring break.
Parents and older siblings volunteered to help run the games, serve pizza, help plant the flowers and perform other tasks to make the night run smoothly.
Poland Union hosts a Father Daughter night and a Mother Son night to help the parents become part of the school and allow the students to play with each other and their parents at the same time.
