Jared Kapturasky struck out nine and pitched a one-hitter as the seventh-seeded Falcons won a sectional final. Dominic DiFrancesco singled, homered and drove in two runs for Fitch. Kapturasky, Brian Beany and Jake Gherardi each had two hits for the Falcons. Bryan McKown had the only hit for the Rough Riders. Fitch will meet Walsh Jesuit in a district semifinal at Bob Cene Park at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Howland 6, Cuyahoga Falls 2
HOWLAND
Fifth-seeded Howland advances to a sectional final with its victory in a suspended game from Wednesday. Zach Campbell was a perfect 3 for 3, including a double and an RBI. Nate Leventis added an RBI double and Nick Badanjek had two hits. Michael Massucci was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five. The Tigers will visit Stow-Munroe Falls at 4:30 p.m. today.

Lakeview 5, Painesville Harvey 3
CORTLAND
Cody Lundy and Dan Brammer combined on a four-hitter as the Bulldogs (6-11) opened tournament play with a victory. Lundy worked the first 5 1/3 innings and struck out six. Brammer finished and struck out three in 1 2/3 innings for a save. Anthony Sylvester had two hits, D.J. Morvay had a triple and Brock Sarko had a double for Lakeview. Brendan Jones drove in two runs. The Bulldogs will visit Jefferson in a sectional final at 4:30 p.m. today.
Canfield 10, Salem 0, 5 innings
CANFIELD
Joey Machuga doubled twice and drove in two runs and Luke Kelty pitched a two-hitter as the Cardinals won their tournament opener. Alex Thompson singled, doubled and had two RBIs Joe DeLucia and Anthony Vross each added two hits and Matt Pappas had a two-run single. Canfield will visit Marlington in a sectional final at 4:30 p.m. today.

HUBBARD
The Eagles (19-9) bats were busy in the fourth inning. Tim Herberger led off with a walk and Kent Kroyonovich singled, then both runners advanced on a fielder’s choice. Lukas Mosora tripled, driving in Herberger and Kroyonovich, followed by doubles from both Cam Chaney and Jamie Thomson. Mason Trinckes got the win for Hubbard, allowing two hits, five walks, and striking out seven. Nick DeGregory took the loss for Girard (11-15), giving up three walks and striking out three. Hubbard plays Ursuline today at 4:30 p.m. at Cene Park.
West Branch 2, Struthers 1

Rylee Wallace scored the winning run on Austin Smith’s suicide squeeze bunt in the bottom of the seventh inning. Gino Sabatine (4-3) tossed a four-hitter for the Warriors (14-13), who advance to play a sectional final today at Niles. Trae Hillyer drove in the warriors’ other run. Pat Carano tossed a four-hitter for the Wildcats (6-19). Carano doubled while Jake Kreibel drove in the run and had two hits.

Lisbon 4, Lowellville 3
LISBON
Noah Barnes scattered five hits and struck out seven in six innings as the Blue Devils (14-8) beat the Rockets in a sectional final. It is Lisbon’s first sectional title since 2003. The Blue Devils will meet Western Reserve at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bob Cene Park in Struthers. Barnes and Cameron Summers each doubled and drove in a run for the Blue Devils. Colin Sweeney and Marcus Nenichka each had two hits for Lisbon.

Mooney 7, South Range 2
BEAVER TOWNSHIP
Dom Pecchia led the Cardinals with three RBIs and Aaron Woodberry, Chris Lewis, and Brennen Olesh each drove in an additional run. Devin Curd got the win with two strikeouts. No stats were reported for South Range.
Jackson-Milton 9, Columbiana 5
COLUMBIANA
Noah Laster drove in three runs with two hits for the Bluejays (17-5). Justin Rentz and Zak Lane had two hits including doubles while Eric Ostrowski had two hits and scored twice. For the Clippers (15-11), Tim Davin hit two doubles. Also with two hits each were Vince Vivo, Mitch Davidson, Keenan Green and Josh Herbert. The Clippers will host Western Reserve Friday afternoon in its home finale. The game is set for 5 pm and six Clipper seniors will celebrate their senior night.

Hubbard 8, Marlington 0
ALLIANCE
The Eagles piled on seven of their eight runs in the fourth inning. The scoring binge started with a two-run single from Kayla Chmelik. Then Ruth Sandberg, Athena Smith and Mikayla Smith each hit and RBI-single before Emma Wukelich hit a two-run double. Addy Jarvis walked two and gave up five hits while striking out six for the shutout victory. Hubbard will meet West Branch in a district semifinal Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Alliance.

Cardinal Mooney 4, Columbiana 3
COLUMBIANA
Conchetta Rinaldi’s solo home run in the top of the sixth broke a 3-3 tie and eventually gave the Cardinals (14-14) a victory and a sectional title. Freshman Kayla Rutherford hit a two-run shot in the first inning to give Mooney an early lead, but the Clippers scored single runs in each of the first three innings to take a 3-2 lead. Adrianna Popovich’s two-out single tied the game at 3 in the fourth. Columbiana (18-6) had a rally going in the bottom of the seventh, but an apparent single struck a runner near second base to end the game. Fifth-seeded Moonay will meet top-seeded South Range in a district semifinal at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at Springfield.
South Range 10, Liberty 1

Morgan Smith singled and homered and Caragyn Yanek struck out eight and needed just 88 pitches as the Raiders (24-3) won a sectional final. South Range will meet Cardinal Mooney at 4:30 p.m. Monday st Springfield in a district semifinal. Madison Weaver doubled twic, Hanna Dennison singled and doubled and Morgan Czopur Lydia Baird each had two singles for the Raiders. Smith and Weaver each had two RBIs.
Newton Falls 10, Garrettsville Garfield 1
NEWTON FALLS
The Tigers’ Backherms amd Butler each had a two-run run and Ballas pitched a four-hitter as Newton Falls won a sectional title. The Tigers will meet Wickliffe-Kirtland winner in a district semifinal at LaBrae at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Butler also had a single for Newton Falls. Taylor Brown and Katie Synnestvedt each had two hits for the G-Men.
Champion 6, Conneaut 0
CHAMPION
Molly Williams singled twice, doubled twice and drove in two runs and Alayna Fell hit a home run as the Golden Flashes (23-4) won a sectional final. McKenzie Zigmont pitched a four-hitter and improved to 18-1. Carli Swipas had three hits, one a double, and Amber Ricco also had a double for Champion.

Lowellville 4, Rootstown 1
LOWELLVILLE
Marissa Lellio led the Rockets (12-10), going 2 for 2, while Sabrina Torres contributed a two-run single. Isabella Sotlar got the win with no earned runs, four hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts. Rootstown’s (4-18) Slagle took the loss, giving up four walks and four runs. Lowellville plays Jackson-Milton this evening in the sectional championship.

Poland 7, Howland 4
POLAND
Kristyn Svetlak went 4 for 4 — all singles — and drove in three runs as the Bulldogs beat the Tigers. Poland’s Amanda Wire doubled twice and also added a single. The Bulldogs spotted Howland a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, then scored five runs in the bottom of the inning. Megan Marsico worked four innings and scattered six hits for the win. Svetlak pitched the last three innings. Marsico had two hits and two RBIs and Kat Wilson also had two hits for Poland. Leah Pollifrone had two hits for Howland.
Salem 1, Minerva 0
MINERVA
Clara Janofa scattered five hits, struck out seven and delivered the game’s lone run with a fourth-inning sacrifice fly as the Quakers beat the Lions. Freshman Bailee Thorn led off the fourth with a doule and eventually came home on Janofa’s fly ball to right field. Minerva’s Hannah Reusser struck out eight and also pitched a five-hitter. Alyssa Laubacher, Katie Moore and Rylee Leider each singled for Salem, Salem wraps up its season on Monday at Western Reserve.

Division II sectional
BOARDMAN
The top three seeds in both singles and doubles advanced to Saturday’s semifinals in the Division II sectional tournament. Top-seeded Zach Teffner (Lakeview) will play unseeded Ben Wakefield (Niles). Second-seeded Les Horvath (Ursuline) will play third-seeded Andrew Engartner (Cardinal Mooney). In doubles, top-seeded Andrew Stille and Jacob Stefko (Cardinal Mooney) will play unseeded Sam Delatore and Sam Scotford (Poland) and second-seeded Luke Tsudis amd Austin Arfaras (Ursuline) will play third-seeded Zach Shoaf and John LaPolla (Warren JFK). The championship match and playoff for 3rd and 4th place will follow. All four singles players and doubles team have qualified for next week’s district tournament.
Division I sectional
CANTON
Canfield’s two doubles teams won quarterfinal matches Thursday to clinch berths in next week’s district tournament. Second-seeded Tim Cianciola and Alfredo Almoyna defeated Jimmy Gao and Jesse Jiang of New Philadelphia 6-1, 6-1. Fourth-seeded Bob Long and David Hofsess also won, beating Andrew Triner and Kyle Pecenko of North Canton Hoover 6-1, 6-3. Long and Hofsesss will meet top-seeded Anthony Kanam and Danny Thomas of Massillon Jackson in Saturday’s semifinals. Cianciola and Almoyna will meet Jackson’s third-seeded duo of Wesley Pierkarski and Mitch Sloan. In singles play, Canfield’s Devon Martin and Boardman’s Justin Olsen lost quarterfinal matches and were eliminated.
