McDonald 1, Southern 0

McDONALD

Ben Carkido pitched a no-hitter for McDonald in a Division IV sectional final, striking out 17 while striking out only one. The Blue Devils scored their only run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Garrett Mulrooney notched an RBI double to score Dylan Portolese, who singled to start the frame. Domanick Michael pitched all six innings for Southern Local, allowing six hits and striking out nine.

Jackson-Milton 12, Leetonia 2, 5 innings

NORTH JACKSON

The Bluejays (16-5) run-ruled Leetonia to win their sectional final behind Eric Ostrowski’s nine strikeouts. Johnathan Voland paced the offense with three hits including a double and five RBIs. Noah Laster added three hits, including a triple while Justin Rentz and Scott Mitchell each had two hits in the win. The Bluejays advance to face McDonald in a district semifinals Tuesday.

Western Reserve 11, Sebring 3

BERLIN CENTER

Western Reserve (18-4) downed Sebring in a Division IV sectional final, as Wyatt Larimer pitched six innings and allowed just four hits and three runs (none earned) while striking out 10. Walker Marlowe went 4 for 4 for the Blue Devils, Jacob Clark had three hits and Jeep DiCioccio and Drew Slaven each had two hits and two RBIs.

Mathews 7, Badger 1

VIENNA

Bryan Leipply struck out eight Badger batters and slugged a two-run home run to give Mathews (18-4) a sectional-final win. Mitch Goff collected two hits, including a double while Dan Canter and Bryan Oatridge also hit doubles.

DIVISION I

Austintown Fitch 11, Akron Ellet 0

AKRON

Derek Gunter went six innings for the Falcons, allowing two hits and striking out seven in a Division I sectional final win. Jared Kapturasky went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a triple for Fitch, Kole Klasic went 3 for 4 with two doubles and Nick Bianco had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs.

Poland 15, Crestview 5

EAST FAIRFIELD

Poland handled its business in six innings. Pad O’Shaughnessy was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Also going 3-for-3 was Vince Garayua, who collected two RBIs. Connor Sperati and Anthony Calcagni each had two hits. Garayua was the Bulldogs’ winning pitcher. Crestview’s Joel Fitzsimmons was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Devin Turvey had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

DIVISION II

Poland 9, Salem 6

POLAND

Poland scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to get the win. Kristen Svetlak pitched a complete game for Poland and struck out 13. Audrey Schweers, Sarah Boccieri and Harley Kish had two hits a piece for the Bulldogs. Bailee Thorn went 3-for-4 with a homerun and had three RBIs for Salem. Clara Janofa, Sydney Kline and Rylee Leider each had a hit for the Quakers.

West Branch 10, Alliance 0, 6 innings

BELOIT

The Warriors (22-4) beat up on an Alliance team that run-ruled Niles a day earlier. Kylie Coffelt allowed just one hit over five innings of work, striking out four in the process. At the plate, Bailey Byers went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBIs while Delaney Rito went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs.

DIVISION III

Liberty 15, East Palestine 10

LIBERTY

Allie Longo hit a grand slam in a six-run third inning as Liberty slugged its way past East Palestine in a Division III sectional final. Amy Mikulich paced the Leopards with three hits, while Longo finished with five RBIs.

Cardinal Mooney 14, Mineral Ridge 5

BOARDMAN

Kayla Rutherford hit a grand slam in the first inning, while Jami DiFabio added a two-run homer in the frame as Mooney won a Division III sectional final. Rutherford finished with seven RBIs and Bridget Sweeney tripled twice.

Garfield 3, Pymatuning Valley 2

NEWTON FALLS

Garfield’s Haley Damko hit an RBI double and stole home plate in the fifth for the go-ahead run. Nina Jurcevic and Hannah Smith each hit a single and scored a run. Madison Hurst was the losing pitcher for Pymatuning Valley. Garfield travels to Newton Falls today at 4:30 p.m.

United 8, Springfield 1

HANOVERTON

In a Division III sectional final, Springfield fell to United. Marlie Applegarth had two singles and an RBI and Josie Applegarth notched a single for the Tigers, who finished the season with a 13-10 record.

Boardman 11, Warren Harding 3

WARREN

Ashley Cornelius pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits while striking out six. Savanna Dempsey had four hits, Cornelius added three hits to help her cause and Lauren Gabriele, Miyah Mitchum, Addison Menosky and Marisa Hanna all had two each. For Harding, Talayshah Harris had a double.

Mathews 4, Jackson-Milton 3

NORTH JACKSON

Mathews got out to a 4-0 lead and held on for the regular season victory. Lenna Hoff and Alivia Oulten each hit a double, with Outlen collecting two RBIs. Paige Sponsler had a single and a run scored and Bailey Hall had an RBI single. Hall was the winning pitcher, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out seven. Sierra Pierce was the losing pitcher for Jackson-Milton. She also hit a solo home run.
